It's so easy to write about a character... less so to celebrate myself. So for a moment, I'm going to pretend I am the protagonist of my favourite story.
Kimlyn Stanyon listens more than she speaks. However, when she does speak it's loud, often inappropriate, and packed with humour. Some people find that annoying. Others find it charming. There is no in-between.
She goes about her day, watching people, picking up on patterns of speech, forming grand plans to change the world and pretending to care about the usual things. She's messy. She's indecisive and fickle. She's a little behind on her line of credit. She does a mediocre job at her paying job and places all of herself into the moonlight hours.
Her biggest dream right now is to make it as a full-time author. She has the talent. She's won awards. She just needs a little more audacity.
But if I were a betting man... I'd say she gets it right.
I write what calls to me. At the moment I am mostly drawn to speculative fiction. I used to call myself a magical realism author but I think I just tell the truth that needs to be told in a way that it would be best delivered.
